About
After having worked for more than 10 years in the field of environmental radioactivity (137Cs deposition following the Chernobyl accident, Radon, optimization of monitoring networks), I recently changed research unit and coordinate since 2008 the biodiversity related activities within the Global Environment Monitoring (GEM) unit of the Joint Research Centre of the European Commission. In particular, I am working on interoperable web services able to capture the dynamics of spatio-temporal changes in habitats as well as of the anthropogenic pressures on protected areas.These services we are setting up rely on the automatic collection and processing of remote sensing data and are designed to allow performing ecological forecasting.
